Works great - highly recommended by CF Hill We have a lot of research before choosing this Whynter "Eco-Friendly 12000 BTU dual hose portable air". We have an old Victorian house that does not seem that there had been central to the standard cooling unit in the window, but with harsh winters we get, we were tired of moving around and twice a year. This portable unit does a great job and meets my needs. Here are my observations: Pros - + cooling capacity, this unit easily chills my 15 "x 20" (300 sqm), family room + Noise Compressor, which is very surprising, even at the highest position + size, not very pushy large, about the size of the old radio vertically to sit beside + Portable; unit is quite heavy, but it's on wheels (note that the opening window must move with the device) + Remote Control is a useful addition to a digital display that allows you to temperature, fan speed, timer and on the other side of the room + Easy to install, my son and I had it unboxed and running within 15 minutes after opening the box, only a Phillips head needed to aide the screws to mount the window ventilation Disadvantages - - Hoses Ventilation ugly as it can not be helped if they are needed the white vent pipes (such as dryer vent hose) is a monstrosity and totally inappropriate as an extension of any home (we withdrew our wherever possible, except when the need to point out the air into another room) Misc - * Fan Noise, a lot of air can move and make the expected amount of fan noise when on the highest settings, this portable unit was a good solution for my needs and we will probably get at least one additional unit in the near future to the second floor of our use Highly Recommended! I do not know if it broke or just never had to depend on something cold. Now really is the 12,000 BTU unit will be for a small space .. 400-500 square feet. As I said, I am in a basement apartment and I was suffocating ... death !!!!! I researched every portable air conditioner under the sun and was ready to go out and buy one, but the local stores, neither was breathing air Ho Hum or not created to judge all, and in line with everything I've read a lot of people say they did not do much ... and revisions Ho Hum ... This was the only entity that truly happy people wrote four or five star reviews. I also learned that not even want to mess with the device that has no escape / or simply a single valve. If you have a portable A / C - you want a man takes a double ventilated air, the other sends hot air out. This is much more efficient, cooler and faster than a guy / single valve unit, and you do not empty the buckets of water, either. I'm an actor / director / editor, so I called computers, and there's nothing worse than a sweaty audition or editing a film or video in 90 + degree heat. I decided this was the one to try, but I could not find any in New York! Can you believe it? At $ 490.00 - Amazon price is a bit bloated, but everywhere else was over it was cheaper or had ridiculously long shipping delays and high freight costs. When I saw this puppy in stock, I grabbed it with a free trial of Amazon Prime asked for 2nd day shipping (which cost $ 180 on how heavy this beast!
