The consensus seems to be that you need about 40 BTUs% more than a portable air conditioner from a window air conditioner and 10% more BTUs if the room is very sunny. I think that's why many posters in many portable AC comments (all brands) complain about the lack of refrigeration. They buy the units are very small, since it is based on the BTU required for window units. Use a search engine guidelines for the size or AC needed. 1010E Sunpentown I use this space to 275 square feet that gets lots of sun in the afternoon. Cools very well with a strong air flow. No matter what you buy, look cfm of airflow. The more air flow, air cooler. That's 276 cubic feet per minute, which is more flow than many others of its size. The foam insulation for this device is ugly, but it looks to fill holes in the window space, so air does not seem to enter or leave I keep the tube straight and as short as possible (it can be folded like an accordion shorter length), so hot air comes out quickly, and less heat is reintroduced into the room. Re ugly foam: you can also go to a store that sells plexiglass and cut to fit the window opening and cut a circle to vent pipes (expensive because the cutting of a circle is expensive, $ 25 for the circle, and $ 5 to go straight to the edge of Plexiglas). It gives a very beautiful aspect of foam insulation tho! Another on another site recommendations (see website Corning) pink foam insulation board that can be cut with exacto knife to fit the window and a hole for the pipe. Dow also has similar insulating panels - there is someone who is on board with foam, and one that is Styrofoam. I have had advice from the foam because it is stiffer and has a moisture repellent coating. Remember that it will be exposed to the outside of the house and maybe some rain / sprinkler water to get to them also, the foam comes in large sheets (96 "tall and 48" wide). I have a carpet knife to scratch / cut it down to fit in my car. Used six inch wide piece of my glass door. Spores of the inner circle of thruster and used carpet knife to cut around the circle to make and put out on the circle. I hold the tubing through the hole and then attached the nozzle to the other side of the hose in place. I look Sunpentown also sold separately with a metal sliding window insert hole (other companies are free). Not sure if it's this model or not. They have a website and very helpful customer service. I called them twice with questions before I bought. I live in a dry room, so I've never had that water is diverted. The machine also uses the air condensing in the AC coils cooled so it is very energy efficient with large air-ground and cools very well. Very, very quiet. I compared all regions laptop range from 9000 to 10.000 BTU to find the lowest wattage consumed and consumes only 873W / 815A. I have 15 amp breaker and did not want to cause tripping or overheating of the cables. 12000BTUs is gone if I had the 20 amp breaker that they are very sunny. Chill well and better if started earlier in the day when the temperature is highest in the day, so I do not have to work so hard (for all measures actually) and there are more effective the extra work: all of the ACS are not portable insulated tubing can be wrapped with insulation to reduce the amount of heat regenerated in room. Also unit and the hose must not be in direct sunlight. 19 of 21 people found this review helpful. Dissatisfied with the purchase - back after a week of Rob The idea of a portable AC is great. Sunpentown The machine itself is great, it really raises the air fresh. The problems with the design, I think any potential buyer should be aware of are: 1) the exhaust pipe
