I put this unit in my kitchen window and cools the house in half easily. I love its features, as an adjustment of the economy which means it does not need to come and go on and off. My purchase requirements were: functionality would be easy enough for my old mother to work. The device had to fit into a particular location and the facility would be by-the-wall was a full function remote because of the time installed. She could reach, but it was a piece. The house is about 1000 square meters with a 6 inch walls and good insulation. The manual states that the maximum wall thickness is 8.5 inches. Although this device is sold as a unit of the window / wall, the guide does not address details of a wall installation. It turns out, the wall installation is fairly simple, with a decision or two, depending on your taste. The wall opening must be adjusted to the minimum window. The framework will provide the best structural strength and minimum coating as the internal construction. With a cordless drill, screw the bottom to the top of the first two short blocks screwed to adjacent wall studs. The bottom of the frame exactly, even with the lower opening to be. The top is then installed in the same way, then I left and the right block and screw method used for each part of the then 6-inch wall studs on 24 inch centers, which gave much space to work. Remember to empty spaces left by insulation if needed to fill. Thereafter, the included metal bracket installed and adjusted.
