If you follow the instructions, install correctly, set the unit up properly it works. Works very well I might add. This is not a complicated unit at all. The included remote is very, very intuitive and informative. For instance, you set ALL functions thru the remote. Change the temp? Just set it to whatever temp you desire. The thermometer display on the remote is the actual temperature. Bonuses to the Air Conditioning are a Plasma ION air cleaner, and a dehumidifier. It will vent the inside air to the outside if desired. The air filters are very easy to get to. There is even a setting to have the louvers automatically oscillate up and down. I have an automatic sump pump for my whole house air conditioning unit in the basement. I simply did a little plumbing and run a drain line from the unit to the sump. Now, when the sump fills with condensate from the Sharp AC or my main AC the condensate is pumped outide into a storage container for use watering plants, etc. Hope this helps! 6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. Wonderful Air Conditioner By charlotte Lehmann We got this air conditioner when I got pregnant two years ago and it saved my sanity during the hot months. We have a big bedroom on the top floor of our house but it is easily cooled down by the unit and it it fairly easy moving the unit from room to room. We really enjoy it!! 6 of 7 people found the following review helpful. Died after 2 years, maybe 160 hours used By Austin cowgirl Unite worked well for 1st year, when was run twice for about 30 hours each, and was indeed "quiet", but very difficult to measure subjectively what library quiet is. The unit was properly stored and brought out this year and used for under 200 hours--each use progressively became louder as the unit shuddered on and off. The Sharp Product Manual does a CYA by stating that it will in fact be noiser when the condenser comes on. Well, the shudder was enough to wake us from sleep. The review has to be wordy enough to make the limit in order to be published. In less than 200 hours of night time use, properly installed, the unit would not drain condensation water--which had been done several times previous. A failsafe mechanism will not allow the machine to turn on when the upper drain will not drain. However, draining the lower drain will not fix this problem. We spent 5 days writing emails and then was instructed to telephone customer service--who read us the Product manual. So, for $200 to bring the unit to the door of the repair shop, then $90 and up, for labor, plus parts--I WANTED TO WARN ANY POTENTIAL PURCHASER THAT THIS UNIT IS A DISPOSABLE UNIT--IT WORKS FOR A FEW DAYS IN ONE SUMMER, AND THEN YOU THROW IT AWAY THE NEXT. The first produced room temperature air directly from the fan louveres. I am in a Very low humidity area. Also when the unit is turned off but still plugged in ,the control panel gets almost too hot to touch. Edgestar service said everything seems normal but allowed me to return the unit. It is a really nice looking cooler and I wanted it to work so I got a replacement. The second unit produced 4 degree cooler air. The controls still got hot enough for me to consider it a fire hazard. The ocillating feature also didn't work. This unit was also returned. The service Tech let it slip that 4 degrees was about normal and the catch was " Up To " 12 degrees cooler. A much cheaper tower fan would probably be a better choice than this. 9 of 10 people found the following review helpful. Buyer Beware of EdgeStar Portable Air Cooler By Denver RV'er We purchased this unit last week to help cool our RV. It's a nice looking unit (a little difficult to move as it has no handle), and had a nice wide blowing area when it pivots. The problem is the temperature of the air it blows doesn't change whether it's on fan mode or evaporative cooling mode. I tested it by putting a thermometer about a foot away and ran it on each mode for 1/2 hour. The internet vendor says to contact the manufacturer, and the manufacturer informed me that since the air curtain gets wet and it changed the temp by 2 degrees, then the unit is working, just not as well as expected (the sales literature mentions a 12 degree difference.) So my choices now are to pay the postage and 15% restocking fee to return it and/or perhaps have it worked on (except that the company rep kept insisting that it worked - so what could they do?) or keep it and use it as a fan that I paid way too much for. 5 of 6 people found the following review helpful. Water cooler broke By A. Mckenna Just an expensive fan after the water cooling part of it broke. It only lasted about a month before breaking. Didn't cool even our very small room when it did work. If you stood right in front of the air flow, it felt cooler. When it was over 100 degrees, that was somewhat helpful in keeping our baby a little more comfortable in her nursery, so I was sad when it stopped working. I'll update if customer service ever gets back to me (I had to leave a message) and if they can get it fixed. Update: they called back that very day and paid to have it shipped back to them to fix (I had to pay to have it boxed b/c I didn't keep the box). See all 5 customer reviews...

This is a metal mechanical device that beats the air: It's going to make some sound. I would not liken its sound to a lawnmower ... believe me, I know what it sounds like when our lawn service comes. Lifestyles, personal needs, and expectations will dictate whether you like this product or not. I can't say enough good things about mine. I live in a second floor condo in a bustling, trendy, urban area. I don't hear sirens, bullets, and screaming, but I do hear some street traffic, people talking and walking home after a night of imbibing, and delivery trucks. I have no air conditioning, so needed a couple of things: 1. A sleek, retro design that would go with my silver, white, and tan bedroom decor; 2. Pleasant, soft, white noise; 3. Quality construction; and 4. Air circulation. This fan delivered in spades. It sounds nothing like a lawnmower. Actually, on the low setting, it didn't provide enough white noise for us, so we put in on "medium" speed, deactivated the oscillating function, aimed it at an opposite bedroom wall and it was perfect! The deflected breeze circulated the air perfectly and the constant hum lulled us to sleep. I must say that it has been the two most restful nights sleep I have had in my condo sans air conditioner. I used to have a window air conditioner and I would say that was three times louder than this fan. If you want silent air, get central air. I would recommed this fan to anyone looking similar things in a fan. 5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. I second Junk! By J. I needed a nice fan for sleeping and this works perfect, level one blows just enough air onto me for a great breeze and sleep. The fan is super quiet for the amount of air it pushes,no fan will ever be silent. You cant hear the motor at all. totally worth it! i attached the video to hear the fan on each setting. The video starts on setting 1 then when it beeps it goes to level 2 then the next beep is level 3 . about 10 secs apart for each setting. the camera is 2 feet away and not directly on the wind path 26 of 26 people found the following review helpful. A Breath of Fresh Air By W. Justin Howard So initially I had bought this unit and had a bad experience with it. It had just stopped working after a couple of weeks. Surprisingly enough Miallegro is pro-active in helping their customers. They replaced it and shipped it for free. Not only that, but their customer service is actually polite. As we all know, lots of companies have rude customer service. I just had to get that out of the way in case any of you have issues with your fan. Now onto my review of the product. I was looking for this particular type of fan because the fans that oscillate the entire tower always end up giving me problems. With the inner oscillation, I find it to be more reliable. This 2nd unit has been just that. Also the fan is rather quiet on the low setting. The medium and high settings on the fan move a large amount of air without the annoying loudness that most fans have. Unless you're a light sleeper, you'll be able to sleep with this on. If you have issues with limited floorspace, you'll be pleased to know that this fan takes up an extremely small amount of space for the job it does. Lastly, this fan just looks cool. It's sleek, has that l.e.d. display, and the display slides back to reveal the remote's location. Overall I'd have to say that I'm quite pleased with this fan. It does the job it's designed to do and it does it well. For being a brand that isn't as well-known as the major brands, in my case it stands above them. 19 of 21 people found the following review helpful. Riggs Now that I have had this unit in for several months...I can speak to how it really works. As with most heat pump type units, it lacks the heat output during the very cold days and night, but overall, does a pretty good job in my wood shop. Be advised that you really need to keep the filters cleaned if it is used in a dusty envoironment. The cooling worked great...the building is a 24X24 with 13' ceilings. Had no issues when it was hot outside up to 95 degrees. The only issue with installation is the instructions do lack some. You cannot do it yourself as you will need a vaccuum pump from an HVAC indivdual to vaccuum out the lines when setting it up. Plus, the electrically hookups are buried inside the unit...which are not clearly expained in the manual. I was unable to locate them myself and only with great pain, did the HVAC guy even find them. In the end, I like the unit and will purchase a similiar one for my house soon. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. No Customer Service By rlgourdine We have a quad zone Klimaire. Only one of the four indoor units has ever worked properly. There is virtually NO customer support for this product. When you do reach "customer service" you are connected with an engineer who speaks VERY poor english and does not understand english much better. We have had this unit for 6 months and have not been able to get customer service to help us. We tell them the problem, they repeat their previous instructions (which did NOTHING to fix units). We are considering giving up recouping our $3,700 and ordering a Mitsubishi (we understand they actually have customer service). The one (out of four) indoor units we have works great, and if the other three worked like the one, we could give Klimaire a glowing review. 4 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Remotes do not stand up By Nancy We purchased several of these units and like them. We live in a southern climate and do not have extremes in temperature.I believe we have installed 5 or 6 units. We have noticed problems with the remote controls though. They do not last. We have purchased wire baskets for them to keep them next to the units protected yet, within 2-3 yrs 3 of them have stopped functioning. The displays give out and they are nonfunctional. In calling the company I was told by the receptionist that to replace the remote it would cost $45 for a universal remote and $65 for the original remote plus $15 shipping. The remotes do not appear to be of a quality/size that matches that price in my humble opinion. I was told the remotes are never covered in the warrantee. The units come with one remote each. I am realizing how expensive a cooling/heating system this will be having to replace all the remotes every 2-3 years. See all 4 customer reviews...

Most helpful customer reviews 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. AMAZON Sharp AF-S125RX By Shopper The cooling ability of this product is very good. Installation was pretty easy. A couple of things that need improvement - it is a bit noisy; the front grill (the one that directs air) is "too open" - allows dust/litter inside. Also, there is an opening on the top of the air-conditioner's body (the part that remains on the outside) - my old unit only had the openings on the sides and for that reason the inside of the air-conditioner remained cleaner. Also, the openings that are located on the sides are not protected - my old air-conditioner had "owning"-like metal protections on each opening on the sides of the unit - this also prevented the insides of the air-conditioner from water and street litter. Most helpful customer reviews 39 of 41 people found the following review helpful. A Change for the Worse By Laurie Griffin There used to be a model of this fan that was near perfect. It was the HT-800 and I have three of them because I love having them in multiple rooms in the summer. That awesome model seems to have been replaced with this model which is less powerful. The less powerful part is OK, I can just turn the speed up on it (I always used the first setting on the HT-800--that sucker was strong!l). The part they really screwed up, though, is the base. They inexplicably cut away parts of it in the front and the back so now, instead of being solid and sturdy feeling, it's flimsy feeling and top heavy and falls over or points upward every time you touch it. Why oh why do so many companies take a product that's fantastic just the way it is and then change it so it sucks? By the way, I put this same review on the manufacturer's website (Kaz) and noticed that they change all customer reviews to 5 stars, no matter how many you choose. Real honest of them. After years of buying this brand, I guess I'll be looking for a different one the next time I need a new fan. 33 of 37 people found the following review helpful. not as powerful as HT800 By Abhinav Bhatnagar Pros: 1. nice cool breeze 2. quieter than HT800 [Honeywell HT800 Super Turbo High Performance Fan, Black] Cons: 1.not as powerful as HT800 2. By Modern Blue Argonaut I am very impressed with this extra small desk sized fan. It creates a nice strong breeze that can be felt from several feet away. Even the lowest setting creates quite a breeze, so if you have papers around or need an extra quiet fan this is probably not a good choice. For me though, I like the white noise it creates and in the hot, humid Florida summers, this is a nice way to cool off without having astronomical power bills. I purchased one fan for each of the bedrooms and can now raise the temp on my A/C by two degrees and yet it feels cooler than it did before. The fan can also be wall-mounted and the fan's angle clicks into secure settings so you don't have to worry about it rotating up or down. The power cord appears to be around six feet long. I highly recommend these little fans for portability, space, and effectiveness. Those wanting an oscillating fan rather than a fan that only blows in one direction should consider Honeywell HFT114B Oscillating Super-Turbo High-Performance 3-Speed Fan. Goldman UPDATE 5/5/2010: This unit is still running as efficiently and effectively as ever. We are very, very happy with our purchase. --------------- About a month and a half ago, my husband and I purchased this at our local Costco (because of good pricing and their great return policy) after researching and reading mixed online reviews on MANY, MANY portable air conditioners. He's in the Navy, so we're currently living in Port Hueneme, CA (Southern CA near L.A.) right on the ocean and the humidity is pretty high. We've used it on days with temperatures ranging from ~78 to 86F and are still waiting for a really hot day to hit. It might not happen this year, but it certainly did last year. We use it in our upstairs bedroom--approximately 180 square feet--with the door shut to keep our cats out. The results: * Noise: Fantastic. We used to have one fan blowing on full-speed in there. While you CAN hear this unit, it is quieter than the fan was, by probably 50%. As another reviewer noted, you can hear a little water trickling from time to time, but that doesn't really bother us, and it's certainly not constant. We sleep like babies with this unit about a foot away from the bed. * Cooling: Again, top-notch. I really wasn't expecting much from a portable after reading so many bad reviews for all of the portable air conditioners we researched. On the day that we installed it, it was 83F outside (and probably close to 90F in our bedroom) and, being pessimistic in our expectations, we put it on the MegaCool setting and left the bedroom, closing the door behind us. About 2 hours later, we headed up the stairs to check on it. About halfway up the stairs, we could feel that the air was cooler than it had been downstairs. In fact, the entire top floor of our townhouse (approximately 500 square feet) was noticeably cooler, even with the bedroom door closed. When we opened the bedroom door, it had already dropped a good 10 to 15 degrees. We left it for a few more hours, and when we went back in it was so cold that we got the down comforter out to cuddle under as we slept. And sleep we did--better than we had in ages. I think that 4 hours to go from 90F to what felt like near 50F is very reasonable. Since then, we've kept it between 67F and 70F. * Remote: Very user friendly. You can also cover the sensor on the remote with your hand and click the Power button to turn the remote off without turning the air conditioner off--this elongates the battery life. * Dehumidifying: It's unbelievable how well this dehumidifies the air here. Remember, we live right on the ocean, so it's always very humid. I LOVE that my sheets no longer feel soggy when I sleep, and that my husband and I can sleep touching without sticking to each other. And if this tells you anything, my hair is really wavy/curlyish, and when I sleep at night in the dehumidified bedroom, it gets very close to perfectly straight. As soon as I go down to the lower level of our townhouse, though, my hair immediately starts curling. My husband tends to laugh at how quickly the curls form once I leave the bedroom. I never had this experience with centralized AC when I lived in Texas. My point? It dehumidifies REALLY well. * Draining: We've done this twice in the last month and a half and probably could have gotten away with doing it once. A lot of the water evaporates right out of the window, and the tank seems to have a decent capacity. The machine will also automatically shut itself off if the tank gets too full. The method is also pretty easy. The drain is far enough off the floor that you can use a bucket to empty the unit. One thing we noticed is that even though it has an on/off valve, the off position doesn't seem to work. We have to make sure the stopper is in securely no matter what setting the valve is on. * Construction: Seems to be quite durable,

Got 2, both working great after 1.5 years By B. Chan I bought my first one right after summer of 2006 and use it mainly to move air around in the room (not necessarily for the cooling effect) and it's worked great. When summer 2007 hit, my extended family loved my fan so much, they all bought one. I bought a second 'spare' as well. My 2 are working like a charm and quiet as a mouse, and as far as I know, theirs are working as well... so that's 4 total working great. Hopefully those who got defected ones were able to exchange them. All 4 of ours were from Sam's Club. 11 of 12 people found the following review helpful. Loved them at first, then....... By Michelle Hodsdon I bought 2 of these for my business. I teach an exercise class and we NEED good fans. I liked these because they wouldn't take up a lot of our dance space and would have air blowing over most of a persons body since they are 4' tall. While I thought they were a little wobbly, they worked nicely. One of the bases did break as it often got moved around in the closet of the hall I rented, but I used them the whole first summer and they were great! Over the winter I moved into my own center and brought these with me. Now that it's summer it's REALLY HOT in my center because I don't have A/C yet. So, I got out the fans. They worked for about 1.5 weeks. Then one of them stopped responding to any of the buttons. It works if you plug it in, but it doesn't oscillate and you can only turn it off by unplugging it. Only days later the same thing happened to the other one. I am EXTREMELY disappointed considering how much I paid for these fans just over a year ago. I guess in some respects I'm lucky that mine lasted longer than other reviewers, but that's probably due to the fact that I only used them for an hour or two a day 5 days a week last summer and not constantly. So, I need new fans, but I'm not buying these again. I'm not sure what I'm going to do, but it's a shame these didn't last because I really loved them at first. See all 36 customer reviews...

It's not quiet, but it works By Timothy Clark I've had this unit for a week now, and I'm pleased with the results I have got out of it. My bedroom is only about 140sq feet, but since this is rated for larger rooms than mine, I am able to run it on Medium rather than High and still get some nice filtering from it. I run it on Low while I sleep, turn it off when I wake up, and run it on Medium or High for a couple of hours before I go to bed each night. I try to keep my door shut while it is on. I'm an asthmatic and allergic to my two cats, and have been suffering for the last month (we have had them for a couple of years now). I haven't been able to figure out why I've suddenly begun having symptoms again, but it has been problematic to say the least, and I've had to use my inhaler daily, as I typically wake up with asthma symptoms. I decided that since I could not find the cause of my problems (we tried changing their litter type, brushing them daily, changing their food, and doing a thorough clean-up of my room), I would try to purify my bedroom's air while I sleep, since that is when I generally have problems. The first night I still woke with asthma symptoms, but since the second night I'm completely free and can breath much easier at night. I believe this has helped me sleep better, as I no longer struggle to breath each night. The unit is quite loud in a room of my size, unless it is on Low (it's no louder than my room fan when it's on Low). My computer is in my bedroom, and I use headphones if I'm using it, so that I may run the purifier on Medium or High. Otherwise, after a day of getting used to it, I no longer notice that it's there. You would not want to put this in a medium or large bedroom, unless you purified during the day and turned it to Low or Off while you slept. Honeywell claims that their HEPA filter is cleanable and only needs to be vacuumed every 6 months. The unit also requires an activated carbon prefilter to eliminate odors, and mine came with the initial prefilter and two additional free prefilters (yours may not have this, it appears to be a special offer). There is a small display on the unit where it displays your programmed settings (which I did not find as useful as I had hoped), and where it also reports how dirty your filters are. If the HEPA filter is truly cleanable, then this will be a very cheap air purifier to maintain, compared to other models which require you to purchase a $20-40 filter every few months. Oh! I almost forgot to mention how convenient the remote is! I don't have to get up when I decide to take off my headphones or turn on my television, I can just hit a button on the remote and swap it to Low or Off. This is such a convenient feature that should not be overlooked, if you spend a lot of time in the room where you'll keep this unit. 21 of 22 people found the following review helpful. didn't think it's that noisy By Clinton J. Eliason Have to disagree with some of those who feel this unit is excessively noisy. I ended up buying one after having a store clerk plug in a demo model. It is quieter on slow speed but louder on high speed. I would say the noise levels are about the equivalent of a variable speed window unit air conditioner. If you're looking for dead silent operation, this unit won't do it, but if you can sleep through the background noise of an air conditioner, then this purifier shouldn't be any more intrusive. What sold me was the fact that the filters don't need to be replaced-simply vacuum every few months. On cheaper units, the replacement filters cost almost as much as the purifier. 32 of 36 people found the following review helpful. Less noisy and worth it. By A Customer While being quieter than most, it still does its job!We use it in our family room where our quite active fireplace is. The three speeds are a definite plus, but we only really use the low and high speeds.High

I live on the third floor of a 125 year old dorm. As you can imagine, it gets really hot. Opening a window and using a small portable fan does not cut it. I wasn't sure what I was looking for. Having never thought about the concept of an air circulator, when I read the description I knew I had to get it. It sounded perfect. And I'm very glad purchased it. My entire room is cool, my window is closed, I don't need to carry it around with me, and it is quiet. Now when people say they don't want to live above the second floor because of the heat, I'll show them this, and they might change their mind. 13 of 14 people found the following review helpful. Powerful Fan, Relatively Quiet By C Williams After reading some of the 1 and 2 star reviews I wasn't so sure but I got this fan anyway, and am very glad I did so. It's a little larger than the space I originally had for it (it was replacing another, smaller fan that went belly-up), but I found a different place and it fits just fine. On the lowest setting it's still powerful enough to move the air in a large area. It's also pretty quiet, for a powerful fan. The only issue I have with it is that the control knob is on top and sort of recessed, behind the fan, so it's awkward to manipulate from in front of the fan. 13 of 15 people found the following review helpful. Okay Fan By Andrew Landgraf I got this fan to try to move some air in my stuffy room. This fan does a great job of doing that, even on the 'low' setting. I bounce the air flow off my ceiling and can am able to feel it on the other side of the room (which I thought was great). I bought this model because the box said 25% quieter than comparable models, but it has failed to live up to its claim (unless the others are even nosier than this one). Probably 50-60 db noise level (I was hoping for about 30 db). Notes about what is included: Black fan with cord (head rotates 90 deg) Three speeds (High, medium, and low) - I usually only use low (it gets too loud) Fan cover has six screws holding it on (sort of awkward to take off). I would think it would last a while, but I've only had mine for two months. Overall, its okay. It moves a lot of air, but is not at quiet as I had hoped. See all 34 customer reviews...
NewAir AD-400 40 Pint Portable Dehumidifier with Adjustable Humidistat and Timer
Exclusive only to Air & Water, the newly designed NewAir AD-400 portable dehumidifier combines portability and efficiency into one very compact unit. Weighing only 25 pounds, it's designed for heavy-duty dehumidifying and removes up to 40 pints of moisture per day - much more than smaller thermoelectric units! The NewAir AD-400 is a large-capacity, compressor-driven dehumidifier that's perfect for larger areas such as basements. But what sets the AD-400 apart is the inclusion of a built-in adjustable humidistat that allows you to set the unit to dry the air to the level you choose (from 40% to 80%; in increments of 5%). The unit then automatically sets the humidity value to your specifications. The automatic defrost function prevents freezing or quick cycling in lower temperatures. Operation is also super-quiet: rest assured that although the AD-400 is powerful, it won't disturb your indoor environment. Other great features include: 24-hour programmable timer Adjustable fan speeds Low temperature operation capabilities Easy-to-read and intuitive control panel. Built-in air purifier complete with an ionizer and activated carbon filter

Most helpful customer reviews 6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. quit after 6 months By MAH I bought this humidifier February 2010. Since the spring, it was in constant use in the basement. It was quiet and smaller than my old one (which lasted about 6 years). I hooked up a hose for continuous use. It worked really well until last week (September 2010), when the compressor quit. It still registers the humidity, the fan blows and the motor gets hot. But no water is coming out. I tried to find out about warranty, but the "owner's manual" does not even list the company, much less give warranty information or how to contact them. A web search of "NewAir" only brought up places that sell them, not how to contact the company. So now I am stuck buying a second dehumidifier in less than a year. 8 of 10 people found the following review helpful. The NewAir AD-400 is Great for Larger Areas! By RolexSubmariner My husband and I were in the market for a room dehumidifier and were delighted to find out that they don't all have big dials and clunky designs. This unit has a sleek (although basic) design that is both easy to use and super effective. We brought this to our house in Hawaii and were amazed that it was able to pull close to 40 pints of moisture from the air in 24 hours. The water bucket was easily removable and an indicator tells you when it's time to empty the bucket (and turns off once it's full). This dehumidifier comes with automatic humidistat control, which cycled the unit on and off depending on whether the room had reached the desired humidity level. We're very pleased with this unit given the price. 10 of 13 people found the following review helpful. Air & Water sells great products for the home By Centurion4Life I purchased this dehumidifier for mainly for my downstairs and wanted one quiet enough for use in my bedroom upstairs if needed. And, boy is this thing quiet. Honestly, my refrigerator is louder. The last I purchased removed lots of water, but it can be heard throughout the house when it was running. So i only used it when needed. The NewAir is super quiet. I often walk by it to make sure its on. The NewAir works great in all weather conditioners . Running the central air is not necessary since the house is not hot. So I use a dehumidifier, which makes the house seem less clammy. I would recommend the Newair AD 400 to anyone who is looking for a small, really quiet, relatively light, dehumidifier that works well without with out excess noise. See all 9 customer reviews...

Extremely effective little unit By MyPenName I am not sure what the problem is with the other reviewer's unit, but mine is not loud at all. I am wondering if maybe his unit was defective in some way. I mean, I hear it running, but it is quiet even compared to our 7500BTU unit. It does cycle on and off when in energy saver mode, but I do not find it bothersome - it is just doing it's job, and like I said it is not overly loud. I have had regular box fans and tower fans that are louder than this air conditioner. This things works good and fast! It has totally cooled our entire first floor consisting of living room (17x20), dining room (16x20), kitchen (18x18), and coat room (9x12). The cool air goes back the hall as well that leads to a bedroom and bathroom. There is another room off the kitchen that is 20x23 and you can feel the cool air filtering into that room too and taking the edge off of the heat in there. It definitely works for areas larger than 450 sq ft. My downstairs is much larger than that and this thing had it freezing in here. I have it running on low in the energy saver mode set at 69 degrees. I was really surprised that it works so well and cooled down such a large area. We had wanted (and thought we needed) a much larger wall unit, but this LG is working perfectly. Our 15+ yr old wall unit died on us a few weeks ago and we had to stick within a budget and get a smaller window unit for now. Needless to say, we will stick with this because it is doing just as good of a job as the wall unit did. You can adjust the air flow side to side on the vent, but not up and down. This didn't bother me, but it may be a breaking point for some. We haven't even tried the remote yet, so I can't comment on that, but it has very few buttons and looks very straight forward - much like the controls on the unit itself. The a/c is a nice, simple design in a light beige/tan and is not huge or terribly heavy. Installing was quick and it includes screws and brackets as well to secure the unit. You can use it with or without the accordian type "wings" on the sides - they aren't already attached, but do attach easily. I am extremely pleased with this a/c so far. I definitely got more than I expected in regards to performance. The controls are super easy to use. You set the fan speed/mode and the temperature and that's it - you're good to go and can enjoy the cool air. This thing is powerful, don't be fooled by the 450 sq ft quote on the specs. I was told by someone in the store that this unit would be good for a large bedroom or den.. ha! This thing is taking care of ALL of or main living space with no problem at all. I would imagine if used this in a bedroom, you would freeze over! I definitely recommend this unit and feel like the "noisy" claim on the other review is due to some sort of malfunction. This baby packs alot of bang for the buck. I bought it elsewhere for 256 including tax and shipping and feel it is worth every last penny. If we run into any problems with it though, I will definitely update the review. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Don't waste your money!!! By Chyna This air conditioner was fine for 6 weeks. Then the unit then stopped working. When I called LG i was given a # to call a local business for service. When I called I was told to bring the unit in, instead of a home visit. This AC is very poor quality, and will not last. I'm returning this unit and not wasting my time to repair a AC that shouldn't have stopped working in 6weeks. Dont waste your money. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Good value, small window A/c By Brandy Dover This model scores pretty well in consumer report and fits the size I needed. Kovach I bought one of these fans locally and I liked it so much that I ordered another one from Amazon. Here are the pros and cons as I see them. Pros: 1. It pushes a lot of air - I can get a nice breeze from as far as 25 feet away. 2. It doesnt take up a lot of room. 3. It is not ugly like many fans are. 4. The remote control with flashlight is a nice feature even though I rarely use it. For the person who complained about one LED being burned out straight out of the box. Only one LED is for the flashlight. The other is for the remote control functions and doesnt illuminate. Cons 1. The breeze feature is kind of annoying because of the fluctuation of the noise level. 2. You have to hold the remote in a specific postition to make it work. If the fan is oscillating, its hard to find that position. 63 of 63 people found the following review helpful. Excellent By Marie Francis This is a wonderful fan. It takes up little space, circulates a lot of air, has a larger oscillating range than others I have had, and is very quiet. The remote is a nice bonus, since you can make it stop blowing on you without having to get up. The only down side I can think of is that the fan is so low to the ground; if you like feeling it on your face or do not have an open area to put it in be prepared to have to put it on top of something such as a desk or table or consider finding a standing fan instead. 107 of 114 people found the following review helpful. Excellent Fan By Joey I am not entirely sure if this is what I have but it looks identical. (My Model #: HY-047B) From my experience of using several tower fans, this Honeywell product is excellent. It pushes a lot of air quietly and oscillates in a wider angle compared to the tower fan from Lasko. Its look is decent but if you prefer a fancier fan, I would recommend Lasko 42" Wind Curve though it doesn't circulate as much air. (I have recently bought this Lasko fan and returned it because it is not powerful enough; its third level of wind speed is only equivalent to the first level of this Honeywell fan.) In addition, I like that this fan comes with a filter that can be easily washed and reinstalled. I would consider this a four-season fan because its three levels of wind speed fits my needs all year round unlike the Lasko 42" Wind curve, which I would consider it as a winter fan, and Nexus Tropical Breeze, which I would call it a summer fan because it pushes unbelievable amount of air to great distances. I plan to buy another Honeywell 3-Speed Digital Tower Fan soon. See all 200 customer reviews...

Trumbo This is an excellent high-efficiency budget air conditioner for small to medium sized rooms. The fan speed is adjustable so that the unit can push cold air further into a room at higher speed. I really like all the options available in the controls. You can have it run as long as you want, or you can set it to run on an internal timer or according to an internal thermostat. The on/off button is easy to use and the whole control panel responds well to presses. I don't feel ignored by this control panel. In addition to setting the fan speed, you can set the thermostat from 60 up to 90, or you can set the unit to run the fan only, without cooling the air. Also, there is an energy efficient mode which turns off the cooling system when the thermostat reads the right temperature, but the fan keeps running for 3 minutes, to continue moving air over the inactive but still-cold compressor. Then at 10 minute intervals the fan turns on for another 3 minutes and continues like that until the temperature goes high enough to activate the compressor again. There is Clean Air button that turns on a little electric air purifier in the unit. A good bonus for allergy sufferers which I keep on all the time. There is a sleep button that works with the thermostat settings. When the sleep button is pressed, the unit continues operating. 30 minutes later, the thermostat is set 2 degrees higher. 30 minutes after that again, it is set another 2 degrees higher, so it is more efficient while you sleep. The unit will then operate with the thermostat at that higher level for 7 hours, and then turn off sleep mode automatically, returning to the original thermostat setting, before the sleep button was pressed. I don't know anyone who sleeps a full 8 hours, so the sleep mode can be deactivated with the press of the button. The unit reminds you when to change the filter by turning on a light. The reusable filter can be rinsed clean, and the button under the filter light can be pushed to reset the timer, which runs for 250 hours of operation before lighting again. There are two control features that I don't like so well. First, there is the mode selection button, which controls which of the three modes you are in: "Cool", "Energy Saver", and "Fan Only". I would have preferred two buttons, to go up or down the list, instead of only down. It's a minor pet peeve for me. Second, I think the controls beep too loud when pressed, and I don't think there is a way to adjust volume. Another thing I dislike is how the timer can only be set in half-hour increments up to 10 hours, and then 1 hour increments up to 24 hours. I would have liked to select smaller time slices, like 10 minute intervals. That makes it a longer process to program the timer, but gives me more control. However, since I normally use the thermostat mode, this is not really an issue for me anyway. Be careful about putting furniture directly in front of the plug. The plug itself looks good and the cord comes out the bottom, but the reset and test buttons are not placed deeply enough into the plug box, so they can be accidentally pushed. This may turn off your unit, and the instructions say not to use the test and reset buttons to control the operation of the unit. The unit seems to generate an average amount of sound. It does not sound any louder or quieter than an average air conditioner. 141 of 146 people found the following review helpful. Better than expected from Frigidaire (but don't expect much) By Strohmian Frigidaire is not traditionally the best brand of ACs, to put it mildly, and I personally have horror- stories to tell about two(!) $600 Frigidaire ACs. But, I needed a small window unit, my local stores didn't carry any nice brands, and Amazon didn't ship anything else at the time either. So, I read some good reviews and bought it anyway. The machine is "ok". It

I put the camera 70 degrees and it would constantly freeze (which means the ice is formed after about 1 hour). I noticed that the device more air drawn into the room blew. Enter upon delivery, I sealed everything in the room as closely as I could (insulation, foam, etc.) and made two other rooms. He succeeded in the room (12 x 16) cool, but is still ice in the days of 100 + degrees (70 degrees to camera). HP: I switched mid-October. Today (December 10), all the lights are flashing on the front panel and turn the power off and do not want to use the power button on the control panel. I pulled out of the wall and let stand for one hour. So again (hours later), but the device would be all the lights on and off without any control of power [...] I'm waiting for service to the customer in touch with me to see how they react to guarantee 1 year. I'll try to write what has happened to keep consumers informed. 3 of 3 people found this review helpful. Stay cool with Michael P. Lefand I bought this unit two days ago, when the temperature in a recreation room (fully insulated, which measures 35 'x 17' or 595 square feet. Note: The unit is rated at 550 square meters) above my garage reached temperatures of 98 100 degrees in the last heat wave in New Jersey. The reason I bought "Air Conditioner Soleus heat pump" is because I wanted the duality of an air conditioner and heat. The setup was not difficult, window mounting kit that fits in the window should be shot, as required by the instructions to fit the window. It took about 5 minutes to measure and cut. Set the total time was about 35 minutes of that time was spent 20 minutes trying to understand instructions. The instructions are not the best. There is a drain hose from the unit which is not mentioned anywhere in the instructions. The unit control panel and digital display, easy-to-use remote control. The unit also has a timer and shutters that swing up and down to circulate the air. What is not mentioned in the general instructions, but in the instructions is that the timer at a distance and the oscillator can not be accessed by remote control. However, this is not insurmountable. After a few minutes of flipping back and forth between pages can be included. The fan kit comes with the device must be provided to put the sealant between the panel and the window exhaust. Fortunately, I had some foam rubber gasket to ensure a good seal. Moreover, it is a tight fit between the window sill and exhaust hose kit that fits in the window after I had with the unit I insulated exhaust hose flexible PVC as directed. The hose gets very hot and the heat will radiate back to the bedroom, so insulation makes sense. Today, as I'm writing this, July 22, 2011, 13:00, is 101 degrees outside in the shade and very wet. In the room over the garage "Soleus" unit is maintaining a constant 82 degrees with 54 percent humidity. I consider that good, the main part of my house has central air set 72 degrees and she is struggling to keep the temperature at 74 degrees. I consider the "Soleus" unit to be working pretty good for a portable air conditioner with the outside extremely high temperature. I expect better results when the temperature drops to a low of 90, where it is normal for the summer here. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Nice unit, no water problems by M. Reverman Bought this unit in spring 2010 and used it for about a year now I have only used it to cool not heat. Installation: Unit comes with an adjustable 5" tall PVC vent. Vornado 630B 3 Speed Mid Size Results Air Circulators, black with in1ear I am very familiar with Vornado products and have used a humidifier and one of its peaceful space heating for 5 years or more. Vornado is a manufacturer that designs and makes it the right way. The Vornado 630B 3 Speed Mid Size Air Circulator Pumps makes the job much bigger fans, but with minimal noise. I know it is a fact when he recently bought my wife two other famous fans at a local store and brought them home. The Vornado moves as much air as the other brands Large "Industrial" use a fan and of course a lot quieterlevel. I literally have to turn "Subtitle" on my TV if the second fire in the far back room was! And of course do not enjoy much of the fan from so far away. The Vornado is slightly to one side of our entertainment center and about 6 feet away from the user can use it on low and quiet surroundings with a pleasant air direct cause. The Vornado 630B 3 Speed Mid Size Air Circulator Pumps are fully adjustable, not just three different speeds, but can be turned into a very wide range of upward direction for general circulation room. There are no buttons to tighten regulation and can be done easily with a gentle push or pull in the necessary direction. The fan is also easy to clean dust from the magazine cover comes off fins can be cleaned with just a damp cloth, cover replaces easily without tools, and after entering it again, you're up and running quickly. I also found that the price was only a difference of a few dollars from less versatile and Vornado fan that is ideal. It is for me more than justifies the price. We took the other rear fan and have been happily using our product from Vornado. John Row 26 of 26 people found the following review helpful quick relief and silent in the heat! V. Alston This fan is great! I bought it to un-air conditioned room of my college dorm daughter who was choking in September in the southern U.S. This fan can really move the air and is very quiet for sleeping. By D. Dumais I liked first. Talk about moving some air. It worked very well for a while, and then the noise began. In the first place only at the highest setting, and finally reached the lowest. It started as a vibration became a hit click. It seems to come from the engine or near it. Crazy woman took my bed and light. So what's changed, and it worked fine for a while. Then he began to vibrate, and click on it. Frustrated, I went to a local shop this time, instead of exchanging it back online and bought a different model Vornado worked hard in the beginning, after a few days, he developed the clicking sound again. The blade is not hitting anything, if I had my guess I think that the powerful engine balance playing something. He bought the store back to the exchange. Fourth unit now stable, quiet, I was finally happy. What a big fan. Last night he started again, all I could do is moan. click, click .. space .. click click .. .. click .. Ack. Brought back .. I will not give you less than three stars, the click can be lived with. It is not pronounced and timed so that it stands out. Not good for a light sleeper, but if you can live through unusual sounds, her well. Otherwise, looks solid. Too bad, I read so many good things about Vornado, I was pumped for a high-quality fan and was willing to pay. They get really quiet, so if you can make it stay that way, you'll be happy.

Schroeder Although heavy and probably larger than a window air conditioner, this unit is worth every penny. I have a home office with a server and a couple PCs in it and this unit keeps the room as cold as I want it! I have central air - but my office always seemed stuffy. Now the entire upstairs loft is as cool and comfortable as the rest of the house. The unit vents outside - and even with my sliding windows, the venting area is narrow and does not obstruct my view. It can also be vented directly through the wall, but that seemed a little extreme to me. It is probably as loud as a window unit and has a fan only mode and a de-humidifier mode. The temperature is set by degrees, not some dumb low-medium-high setting. It plugs into a normal household plug and could be moved to another area of the house with little trouble. I am thinking, if the power went out, this unit could be used with the generator, we would not cook like the last time we lost power in the summer 21 of 22 people found the following review helpful. Some shortcomings By bubusdeolivos I bought this unit used, in very good shape. I would say that, after 4 days of heavy usage It's 12000 BTU's are NOT enough to refrigerate a 180 Sqf room with a big window facing South. (summer time, with just a 90F temp. outside) Also, its has NO movable / adjustable air deflectors; they are fixed and the air flow is too low, given the fact that cool air goes down. Another con, it's a sealed unit, meaning, you need to get special repair service to install a refrigerant charge valve in order to supply R407C ecologic gas, which is more expensive than others. Mine started leaking water from the bottom. I disassembled it, and after 18 screws, couldn't find the problem. Went online and found some people with the same problem: there's a small hole (you need to take off the left cover) that had some lint and was obstructing the flow of condensation water to the sink below: I had to use a wire, back and forth and VOILA, no more leaks THIS IS NOT EXPLAINED IN THE MANUAL. Pros are it's portability and lack of installation.(holes, etc.) 20 of 21 people found the following review helpful. Great portable air conditioner! By A. Conte Though much larger than a window version, this unit, shaped like the penguin after which it's named, allows for the cooling of individual rooms on demand, rather than wasteful central air. Just like the gas heating stove I installed in the room I use most, I can close off the same room and cool it down for a fraction of the cost of full house cooling. The filered air is an elixir on those uncomfortable days. Sometimes I turn it on for a while, at a higher temperature, just to get some filtered air in a stuffy room. Well worth the price When once of the venting parts arrived broken, a friendly customer service person sent me a replacement within a few days. See all 12 customer reviews....

Easily remove excess moisture from the air with this mini dehumidifier. The unit not only helps allergy sufferers breathe easier, it also helps prevent problems often caused by excess humidity--peeling paint, damaged wood, and mold growth. The dehumidifier uses Peltier (thermo-electric) technology, which means whisper-quiet operation with no noisy compressor, vibration, or refrigerant to deal with. Water collects in the 2-1/5-liter transparent water tank at a rate of about 650 ml per 24 hours, and the unit automatically switches off when the water tank needs to be emptied (continuous drain option also available). Its compact size makes it a nice choice for in a nursery, small bedroom, closet, cupboard, or under a sink. Other highlights include "power" and "full tank" indicator lights, a 12-volt DC adaptor (UL listed), and a recessed carrying handle for simple transport. The 86-watt mini dehumidifier weighs about 4-6/7 pounds and measures 5-1/2 by 8 by 14-1/6 inches.

Useful Dehumidifier for Small Spaces By SWHandyman This little dehumidifier, about the size of a boot-sized shoe box on end, performs well. Although essentially all plastic, it is still sturdy. It is ideal for small spaces; I have a 6'x'10x8'h brick structure that is up against a hillside, so quite a bit of moisture comes through two walls even though they are moisture blocked. This unit extracts about 1/2 cup of water per day when the space is closed. This is just enough to satisfy my needs and prevent deterioration of contents. It wouldn't draw enough for a larger area. It would be very good for walk-in closets, even larger than my space, since they would generally have less moisture than I have. I don't believe there would be sufficient benefit for use in a living area since the unit would be overwhelmed by ventilation, having such a little volume capability. This would also be ideal for enclosed spaces in coastal areas 10 of 10 people found the following review helpful. Excellent, if purchased for the right purpose. By markoman1 I almost didn't buy this unit because of the mixed reviews, but I took a chance and I'm glad I did. Bottom line, it works spectacularly well if used for an enclosed space where the air isn't being circulated/exchanged. I have it in a guest-cabin behind my house which sits vacant 90% of the time. It extracted about 1 cup of water in 24 hours of summer weather. Over a period of a week or so, I expect it will remove most humidity as long as the cabin stays sealed. There are 2 keys to this unit working effectively: (1) It works slowly, so expecting it to dehumidify your bathroom right after your shower is preposterous. (2) It's not going to work if the air you're trying to dehumidify is being circulated. In other words, if it's a room you're constantly going in and out of, or a room connected to your central A/C unit, forget it You'll need a big, mechanical dehumidifier. But for spaces where the air isn't being circulated/exchanged, it will eventually extract most of the moisture and keep it dry. A perfect example would be a motor-home. My only (minor) complaints are that optional drain hose is only about 4' long (so I replaced it with a 1/2" x 6' hose from HomeDepot for 3 bucks.) And the power converter gets very hot, so I hooked it to a lamp timer and have it running 2-hours-on then 1-hour-off all day (thus a total of 16 hours a day). Hopefully this will keep it from getting seriously hot. Bottom line--perfect for enclosed spaces but wouldn't recommend for areas where air is being circulated or exchanged. 5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Does the job By Shay D. First and foremost, my bedroom is 20x15 meters, a wall with a large window on what the other wall separates the bedroom from my garage, and a third wall, floor to ceiling windows THREE. Of course, my bedroom is cold, burning heat in summer and freezing in winter. I need a window unit for years, but was worried about the cost of having one. Do not worry. First of all window units helps to cool the house, and so the principal dwelling unit does not work so hard. Secondly, there is a power-saving opportunity to use so that only checks to see if it will come out of every 3 minutes. It turns out that besides the initial cost of machine maintenance cost is not much different than before I got it. I love the remote. I like not having to get out of bed if I'm too hot or too cold. I had completely rejected the remote like something I would worry about when I was looking for window units turns out that this is the feature I love most. There are 3 problems with the device itself. First and foremost plastic accordion thing is too short to completely move to the edge of the window. If your window is a kind of average size, which means you have to set it up with something (I used a flat table and some foam, which is very uninteresting.) Unit was difficult to create ... directions were horrible. I ended up getting someone to install it for me. The last problem is that the temperature gauge is on the device ... So if you have the unit set to 68, it will turn off if the air next to the unit's 68th A few meters away from the device, it may be 74th This is not something unique to this unit ... All window units are like this. Otherwise it is a fantastic unit. I love it and never regretted spending the money on it. 9 of 9 people found this review helpful to LG Heat / Cool unit window LEP, we have a small guest house, and this unit is perfect. it heats well, and it is nice not having to worry about heating and cords on the floor. it is small and compact. the device is easy to install .. you can install the sleeve and then slide the unit runs on 110v in.. at that time did not use the A / C. refurbished unit, the seller was fast on delivery. 3 of 3 people found this review helpful. Goldstar (LG Corp) 5050 air conditioner defective By J. Pepoon I purchased this window air conditioner at a Southern California Walmart in July, 2003 for $125. After lugging it home, I installed it in my bedroom(15X15)- window. It worked well during that summer, but now (June, 2004) it no longer cools sufficiently - it has become more like a window fan. I cycled it off and on every month during the past winter (Southern California style)as advised in the included instruction manual. The manual states a one year free maintenance guarantee, but doesn't tell you about the $50/hour diagnostic charge levied by their affiliated independent service organization. I am very disappointed with this Goldstar unit, and would definitely not purchase another. I previously owned a GE 5000 btu model and it was much more durable.

Lance, I bought this high CV P10MX at Bed Bath and Beyond coupon for 20% [...]- + tax 8.25% - 5% cash back bonus rebate for using my Discover card. Total net purchase price was for me to [...]. This is the best deal I could find, and I did not have to wait for shipping. I had the A / C unit today. The unit is great. Look at the measurements before buying. You need enough space next to the window for this device. Although it can move to a portable device with wheels, the configuration of the exhaust is more or less semi-permanent. Once installed, it is not intended to be removed very easily. So you keep that in mind. After you have installed, you can not use most of your new windows for fresh air - not without stopping the installation of drainage. Make no mistake. I like this a little portable unit I highly recommend buying this unit if you need a portable AC. For what he does, he does well. The cooling capacity is solid! Do not listen to other users with the same non-cutting units complaining that they work or not enough time doing. They have the exhaust defective or not installed properly. This type of air conditioning work and work very well for what is designed to do. But there are shortcomings with these projects. On the one hand, we have installed blinds and curtains on the windows. With this laptop AC system installed in windows, blinds and our being, essentially, useless. Please keep this in mind. It is also a real pain to install the device in an exhaust hose correctly in the window frame and to ensure that insulation is properly insulated. Not impossible, but a real pain. Another poor design of this particular unit SHARP is that there is no display on the air conditioner itself and the remote control has all the info / stats. So you can not say what happens with the camera just by looking. For example, it is not possible to say at the moment - or at least believe that unity is the alternating current temperature. You can set the desired temperature. on the remote control. In addition, you can not say that the setting of the fan is currently just looking at the camera. You must control remotely, and even then you're not sure what the actual speed of the fan now, only that you have configured the remote control for a given context. If you do not point the remote directly at the camera, you can prove that you are running at high speed, but in reality you run low or medium speed. It is a bad design, pure and simple. The air conditioner should have a screen with all the relevant information and have buttons that allow you to change the settings on the CA. For now, you can just turn on and off the device itself Everything else is controlled via remote control. Be darn sure you do not lose your remote, or essentially useless to the alignment. Another bad design is that the blades automatically only up and down. The next option, you must manually adjust it by adjusting to the device itself and with their hands on it. This means that you have the automatic effect on and off, but not to be side by side. If your room is very small, it is only for those up / down enough action, but if you have a larger room you are frustrated with the lack of an automatic side to side movement of the slats. Bad design again. One of the biggest reason for the SHARP devices is how quiet they are suppose to its lowest setting - supposedly 36 dB - but this is only the sound of the fan operating system itself - that is, if the compressor is not together, creating the real cold air. When the AC unit kicked the compressor, the sound, even at the lowest setting, it is very quiet is definitely not something you can fall asleep.
